Purpose of the Bibliography

The purpose is twofold: it is to incorporate an index of the Journal of the Waterlow Study Circle, and to list literature published elsewhere which has particular information about Waterlows.

The WSCJ Index has always been produced on a cumulative basis and the index is designed to be produced separately for use by members of the WSC. It can be removed from this bibliography and inserted with the bound volumes of the Journal if required. But it can - and should - do more than this.

It can provide a guide to the information about Waterlows that has appeared in WSCJ; the basic entries have therefore been expanded for this purpose. The additional information of necessity has had to be kept brief, but it is hoped that it will be more useful than a simple index - without at the same time losing its usefulness as an index to WSCJ.

The listing of literature published elsewhere is also intended to do more that just provide references; it should provide a guide to the content and scope of this literature to assist the reader in finding information. Such listing, and the detail given, must be somewhat subjective, but it is hoped that in time it will provide a useful source of information about Waterlows and provide a supplement to the Index of WSCJ.
